Mobility Hubs Town of Leinfelden-Echterdingen
IONDESIGN was invited to participate in the competition for a modular design concept for mobility points in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The aim of the concept is to reduce motorized private transport and promote sustainable mobility.
For the redesign of two locations we had the best support from the Berlin landscape architects St.raum.a who designed the area around the modules by IONDESIGN. The design concept “Häusle” receives an award from the jury, which particularly recognizes the consistent corporate design in 2 and 3-dimensions.
At the interface of urban and rural infrastructure, the iconic “house shape” of the modules picks up on the typical gable roof shape, which is omnipresent in the region in and around Leinfelden-Echterdingen. As a reminiscence of typical huts, the modules stand alone or in a loose marketplace arrangement.
The frame construction allows the uncomplicated and flexible filling of the fields with different materials. The reduced design language emphasizes linear gables, eaves and edges, thereby creating characterful modules in public space.
